Periodontics

PERIODONTOLOGY is the branch of dentistry that encompasses the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases of supporting tissues of the teeth and their artificial substitutes. With separate clinics for both undergraduate and postgraduate students, the Department has high academic quality and research which associates its pursuit of excellence with a long-term perspective. The Department is committed to expanding its educational program, transferring scientific knowledge through study and discovery, and enhancing the superior skills of our students, faculty and staff. It offer the students an opportunity to interact and participate in exceptional patient care, education and scholarly work.

The Periodontics Teaching Program followed at the department is noteworthy for establishing a scientific and evidence base for specialty treatment and care. It offers not only a high level of competence in the diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of patients with oral and periodontal diseases, but also a comprehensive dental implant therapy. Being equipped with sepearte Patient Counselling Room and Minor Operation Theatre, various non-surgical and surgical procedures like Scaling & Root Planing, Laser Bacterial Debridement, Local Drug Delivery, Cosmetic Periodontology, Flap surgeries, Periodontal Plastic Surgeries, Bone grafting Procedures, etc. There is a full-fledged Oral Implantology section which is dedicated to Dental Implant procedures including advanced techniques like Ridge Splitting, Sinus Augmentation, Osseodensification, etc.  Patients visiting this department are benefitted by the use of modern equipment in LASER surgery and Microsurgery.

The faculty and students are actively involved in registered clinical research studies including wide array of topics like knotted floss technique to Platelet Rich Concentrates and Laser Gingival Depigmentation. Continuing education programs in Sinus Lift Augmentation with simultaneous implant placement and Periodontally Accelerated Osteogenic Orthodontics have been successfully conducted at the department. The students and faculty have presented essays, posters and papers at various conferences in India. Various members of the faculty have been invited by other centres as guest speakers and as examiners.
